5 Minute Warning - 9 August 2024: How Medals were Won and Lost

Ellie Aldridge thought she might have a shot at beating France’s reigning World Champion, Lauriane Nolot, if she got everything right on the day. The British rider made a late, brave gamble to change down to a 15 sqm kite rather than the bigger horsepower of the 21 sqm. It proved to be a winning move for Ellie who has bagged Britain’s only gold from the sailing at Paris 2024.

Sailjuice’s Andy Rice updates PlanetSail’s Matt Sheahan with some of the behind-the-scenes reasons with how and why the medals were won. The Austrians who won the 470 Mixed gold medal, that was a bolt from the blue, but there are some fascinating reasons why, all explained here.
